Hey guys! Finally I’m ready to give you details about my life during 21 day fasting. I will be updating daily this article to give you more precise details from my experience.
Just to let you know : I’m not a doctor, this article is only for informational purposes and does not contain any medical advice. Do not repeat it at home.
Why fasting?
As soon as we were quarantined, during the first two days I realised that the only thing I was thinking about was: “What could I eat?” and “What kind of tasty snacks do we have in the kitchen?”.
I very quickly said to myself: “Enough now!” otherwise after this time I will get out of the house with an ass size of an airplane! So I decided to do a 21 day long fast only on water. I already did this fasting 2 times. The first time I was fasting after getting my baby and the second time was last year during summer – it was too hot to eat anyway.
I don’t have a fast metabolism and as soon as I eat – I gain weight. There are people who can eat as much as they like and remain slim, unfortunately I’m not one of them. I also cannot keep diets, it’s a very long and boring process. A life without yummy munchies and champagne is can lead to booooredom! I like to go the hard way: I eat or I don’t eat at all. Usually I do eat pretty healthy though, for example I don’t eat meat, I like salads, vegetables and fish and I love chocolate. ( No! Not the dark one!)
It’s proven that water fasting is an effective way to cleanse and rejuvenate the body, normalise the work of the gastrointestinal tract, and increase muscle tone.
The benefits of a three-week fast:
- Deep cleansing of the body.
- Regeneration of the skin: increased firmness and elasticity of the skin, smoothing small wrinkles. ( This part I like the most! )
- Normalisation of the stomach and intestines.
- Weight Loss.
- Activation of mental activity.
It is generally believed that in the first 3 days, the kidneys are cleaned, by the 7th day of fasting on the water, the gastrointestinal tract is cleansed, by the 12th day – the lymphatic system and blood vessels. If you want to cleanse the skeletal system, then you have to give up food for 21 days. The nervous system will be normalised after 36 days of fasting. And only by day 40 the body will be cleaned in full. ( 40 days? are you kidding me? )
Fasting menu
Breakfast: water
Lunch: water
Dinner: again water!
- If I get very hungry, usually in the morning, I drink a glass of water with fresh pressed lemon or grapefruit juice.
- If I get extremely hungry to the point where I’m ready to swallow an elephant, I drink sparkling water with lemon.
- If I feel dizzy or nauseous, I take a couple of sips of sweetened soda (helps a lot)
- Everyday I take a full complex of vitamins and minerals ( Orthomol Immun ) It’s s very important to keep the immune system strong and make sure that the body doesn’t miss anything, otherwise hair and nails can get pretty bad.
- Regularly take laxatives. These can come if different forms as a tea, pills or epsom salt. Otherwise I suggest a colon-hydro therapy, pretty annoying process but it really works.
- Sleep when you feel like it ( I don’t do that though, I just don’t have time )
- Walks are highly recommended. For this long journey without food, fresh air and nature will give a touch of purity with meditation feeling as a side effect.
Tip: during the first three days it is better to wear a medical mask on your face or stick the mouth with a scotch, to make sure that you don’t attack all the food that comes in your way!
My Fasting Diary (updated daily)
Day 1
First day without food went pretty fine. I was really motivated and concentrated on starting my 21 day fast. I was drinking water and in the morning I had a coffee to feel more energised for my training. Then I squeezed all the lemons I had to get my hunger-emergency drink! In the afternoon I got really bored, now I had so much more free time. We don’t realise how much time of the day it takes to cook and eat the food. It also keeps us entertained by thinking what are we gonna eat next – What am I gonna think about now if I can’t think about food?!
Day 2
I woke up at 6:30 feeling very light and airy, without any alarm. I could right away feel how my body is adjusting to my biological clock. I did some training in the morning, I did feel a little bit weak, generally I’m never fully energised in the morning. My scale showed -1kg! Then we went to the office, I was running to the toilet at least 10-15 times! Guess, I was starting to finally lose some unnecessary water which I was storing in my body. (I know it’s not appropriate to say these things, but this is a fasting diary and must contain details) In the afternoon I got really exhausted and sleepy, so I slept 1,5 hours. In the evening I was feeling a light hunger while cooking dinner for my family. OMG! all these smells on tasty food!!!! I was feeling the whole day a bit tired and sleepy. Couldn’t wait to get finally to bed and rest.
Day 3
Woke up at 7:00 with a feeling of lazy happiness… I stayed in the bed till 7:30 scrolling my Instagram feed and reading my emails. OMG my scale showed again -1kg! What is it? Magic?!
At 8am I prepared the breakfast for my daughter and home-schooled her. Around 11am I got sleepy again, but I didn’t give up and went to walk on my treadmill for 60min on a moderate speed while watching Netflix ( The Platform ). Time flew so fast and I burned 400 kcal. Yuhuuu!!!
In the evening while preparing dinner for the family I started to feel very hot and a little weak. I though I would faint while I we were filming another one of my cooking sessions ( KF Kitchen with recipes and tutorials coming soon! ) Before going to bed, I had a laxative tea because I was noticing that I was getting few tiny pimples on my face – this means the intestine is not happy and it’s time to act!
Day 4
Woke up feeling very weak and dizzy. Scale said -600gram… It was so hard to get up the stairs during the day. I will take it easy until when I will feel a bit stronger. I know the energy flow will come soon, my body doesn’t wants to give up my safely stored resources of fat, but I will make sure it does!
Day 5
Omg, I woke up so happy!!!! Today, the incredible feeling of lightness and energy is filling my body! Scale showed the same as yesterday. We had a long walk in the woods – was amazing! We walked 90 min just up a very steep hill! When we returned we were very exhausted but feeling great! So relaxed and resolved. I didn’t feel hungry at all and was not dizzy even once. What a fantastic day!
Day 6
Million things to do, but thanks God I feel pretty good today! I’m going on the scale again
to see the result of yesterday’s long walk. Scale showed – 300grams – I thought it would be more! Today, I have planned for myself the sorting of my lingerie closet! It took me the whole day to finish everything up and it was finally finished at 1:30 am! Day spent in underwear – literally! From over exhaustion I did feel hungry in the evening, but managed it somehow and quickly falling asleep to ensure the avoidance of the fridge attack!
Day 7
Ok I’m awake but I’m sooo lazy to get out of bed…and I fell asleep all over again… the day was as usual: cooking, working, studying… just boring… boring, boring day! When the house staff will restart to work?! And I feel hungry!!! I did not go on the scale today, I’m in a bad mood! Grumpy me!
Day 8
Hmm… i woke up thinking what kind of interesting thing can I do today, quarantine makes me have laziness attacks … and here I had a wonderful idea: I’m Gonna shave my dog!!! And again I’m going to visit my friend – the Scale! And it showed: NOTHING! Everything the same as the day before yesterday. The cooking and homeschooling routine is starting to drive me crazy. I had on my schedule a Live Interview with a magazine, so I had to get all pretty and dress up for the occasion! Love dressing up so much! After I finished, I decided to get back on my original plan of shaving the dog!! For 90 min I was very busy and concentrated to avoid any trimming in the wrong area of the dog. The scissor was very sharp and requires a lot of attention, especially on a very small dog!, otherwise an accidental castration is unavoidable! When the job was finished maxim was super happy, he visibly felt very free and very comfortable.
Another exhausting day in my calendar – the good think is that I didn’t even have time to think about food.
Day 9
Omg I stepped on a scale and it seemed that 2 kg dropped in one day! I couldn’t believe it! All happy brushed my teeth and decided to step on a scale without pyjamas, maybe I’m even lighter?! It lied, it seems that it was a mistake and the arrow was back to the original number of 3 days ago! Ok now I’m freaking out though! Is this scale frozen or what? Maybe batteries? Why my weight isn’t dropping? Is something wrong? I do million things in one day, where does my body gets the energy?!
But I’m not giving up just yet… sooner of later it will have to move!
Day 10
I feel pretty energised and finally my scale did at least some movement down! -200grams… All excited, I hit the treadmill for 60 min. The rest of my day was homeschooling my child, cooking and creating content for social media. The last part was really interesting as I was showing my iconic Chanel Minaudière collection ( video available soon, subscribe if you want to get notified! ). In the evening I was dead tired and fell asleep right the way. Another day has gone.
Day 11
Good morning sunshine! I woke up because of the loud bell ringing the gates – another package is here… what is it gonna be?! Amazon or something more interesting?
Im noticing that every morning I really enjoy lazying bed for an extra hour. As soon as I got out of bed, I started to fix my website and clean up my computer and my hard disks… the whole day was at the laptop and the pay passed incredibly fast…Didn’t even had time to think about anything. Zombie day!
Day 12
The number on my scale didn’t change! Again! Oh no no no, don’t get stuck again!!! In the morning I took the Epsom salt mixed with the water – so gross! Then I spent the whole day running from the TV living room to the toilet… Saturday exactly the same as Friday, except that we were hanging around the whole day on the sofa, watching Money Heist and sitting on the computer. Tomorrow I must be lighter!!!
Plateau effect – I did a little research what to do and why the weight is getting stuck.
According to the experts, hitting these plateaus is nothing unusual. As your weight drops and your body composition changes, so do your nutritional needs. There are several reasons why your weight can hit a plateau:
- As your weight goes down, you not only lose fat but also a small amount of muscle. It’s estimated that up to 25% of the body tissue lost during weight loss comes from muscle. Since muscle is critical to keeping your metabolism perking, losing it can reduce your metabolic rate and hinder weight loss. Strength training can help preserve and build muscle to get your metabolism humming again.
- The set point theory alleges that your body naturally tries to maintain a certain weight where it is most comfortable. If you find yourself stuck at the same weight time and again, you may have reached the comfort zone. Reducing much further typically results in regaining weight.
- You may need fewer calories or more physical activity to sustain your lower weight. This is the most likely cause of a weight-loss plateau. Further, it’s almost impossible to lose much weight without exercising. Many scientists agree that whether you exercise is the best way to predict whether you’ll successfully maintain your weight.
- Other factors that can influence weight loss include thyroid or adrenal gland problems, medications you’re taking, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, and quitting smoking…
…and BLAH, BLAH, BLAH….
Day 13
Finally this stupid scale got off from the dead point!!! -200grams! I thought it was stuck seems that it actually does moves! We need to detach from our laptops today, I had an amazing idea to go hiking again! So we got ready and went up the hills again. The walk was very meditative, I really enjoy the nature lately, it’s like if I can feel it with every cell of my body. And the warming sunshine feeds me with its energy. Such a ZEN moment! We hardly managed to get home as everyone was tired and the legs didn’t want to move anymore, except for Maxim, he seemed just fine. Strange dog – eats everything except his food even grass, pees every 2 seconds, weights 1,5 kg … and has energy of a horse 😅 the evening though he did spent glued to the computers… work on my website still continues…
Day 14
Feeling a little tired today… I noticed that in the mornings I need an hour to wake up and get my circulation working … Scale is still moving down, yuhuu! -300grams! Plan of the day: go to the office, finally a ride! I got all polished and pretty! Did my makeup, made my hair, put on a beautiful Chanel suit matched with a gorgeous pair of Jimmy Choo. My husband was pretty surprised seeing me descending the stairs like this, and he says: “Oh my baby all pretty and dressed today! By the way, I hate to tell you this, but I will be the only one admiring your beauty today!” I thought no problem, there is something called: Instagram Stories and 7k people are going to see my pretty makeup and outfit on this day!
Day 15
Lost 300 grams… was working on my website and YouTube content the whole morning and evening. In the afternoon I went with my daughter to the store to buy lemons, we took the scooter… in the end I ended up driving children scooter as she was scared. Kids always take a bunch on stuff when they go out, in the end the parents are ending up carrying it! Duh! How is it possible that a year ago she was driving like crazy all over around with the scooter and now forgot how to do it?! After the walk I felt very tired and decided to continue my work in my laptop. Again it’s 2:30am and I‘m still working….
Day 16
Wow! My weight went down -500grams! Not bad! I‘m noticing how my waist is getting smaller and smaller and I‘m getting less and less hungry. Today I was filming another recipe and I was removing the bones from the chicken legs – Chicken Surgery! I noticed that just by looking on the raw chicken meet seemed disgusting for me. Will I be vegetarian again after my fasting?
It’s very common that people become vegans of vegetarians after fasting.
The whole day I‘m working really hard, as usual: cooking, cleaning, homeschooling, working on my computer… at least I‘m not doing anymore sorting of the stuff… The clock showed 2am and I‘m again far away from the bed and not even finished with my tasks… night night…
Day 17
Yuhuuuu!!! I lost again 300grams!!! So happy that the scale is moving. It gets really boring when the number stays still.
I didn’t sleep much… Went to bed at 3 and got up at 8:30…again! I want to do so many things but the day is too short for me! It’s amazing how concentrated I am these days. Im accomplishing so many tasks even if when I do too much movement while cooking I get a little dizzy. But generally I feel fantastic! So light and clean – literally. Planning to go hiking again as the weather is so beautiful and warm. Naah, hiking didn’t happen, I had to go with my mom to the grocery as we were running out of food and Easter is also coming soon. All packed in 2 masks and gloves I was trying to get as healthy food as possible…and my grapefruits and lemons! Guess what I accidentally saw in the children department – Roller Skates!!! OMG how exiting! They were even my size and I couldn’t walk by… In the afternoon I decided to try them out! Passed more that 17 years that I didn’t even touched roller skates – the first 5 min I felt a bit like a duck on ice, but then I totally remembered how to do it and even did some tricks what I was doing in the skate parks when I was little! So much fun and a great training!
Day 18
In the morning we had a big drama, because of my daughters milk tooth that wouldn’t getout! She so badly wanted the Tooth Fairy to come. In our home the Tooth Fairy comes after every tooth falling out. I couldn’t grab it because it was so little and after trying everything possible the tooth was still there…in 5 min the runs right back to be from her room already holding the tooth in her hand so excited! And again I had to go the store…this time I got my husband to join me and choose come gifts for Easter and for the Tooth Fairy! I totally forgot to step on the scale today… As my period was coming I had headache in the evening and I felt a little bloated. Uff… I can already imagine the result of my scale…
Day 19
Oh no…I knew the period would ruin it! +300grams today… I’m starting to retain water as it usually happens… but the period didn’t even start yet! Whatever… I will try to stay positive and not let influence me! Today we are gonna be doing a #pillowchallenge with my sweet baby girl and her missing tooth! That was a great time! We both dressed up in pillows and even put a pink bow on our dog Maxim…he is a boy but it’s ok, we need him for our picture. He was such a good boy, posing in the little radio car of my daughter. The result was great and we all had a lot of fun! My husband is starting to become a great hobby photographer! In the evening we all had a long and pink bubble bath…
Day 20
What a beautiful day…the sun is shining and out Pillow Haute Couture picture is trending on Instagram. We all had a fantastic idea to go and have a picnic at the lake…We all got dressed nice and pretty and I prepared for them some yummy food. After 30min drive, we finally got there…unfortunately there was hanging a tape. We thought that the park area was just closed due to quarantine and tried to sneak thru. After 10 seconds two police guys sent us away. Hmm…what about our beautiful picnic?! We didn’t give up and decided to drive around the lake and find a nice non public spot close to the forest. Soon we realised that all around the lake is a big, metal fence and the guy ended up having a picnic in the car while I was sipping my water. It was still funny though, we laughed a lot while driving and Lily was always feeding Maxim with her pancakes and cookies. In the evening we all were colouring our Easter eggs…what an interesting process.
Day 21
Easter Sunday! And the bunny brought me my period and +200grams of water in my body. I feel like a dinosaur but my mom is saying that I’m all bones already. I didn’t agree much with that as I still didn’t reach 48kg…should I continue or stop?! A part my period which makes me annoyed, I feel fine. I will hold that though till the evening and in the meantime enjoy the Easter Sunday with my family. We baked with Lily amazing brownies and muffins. We also had our beautiful eggs which we prepared from yesterday. My mom brought us gorgeous Russian pancakes and the lunch was ready. To surprise Lily, I dressed up as a duck (amazon didn’t deliver in time the rabbit costume) and hid her gifts around the garden. She was working so hard on her math homework, she definitely deserves them all! In the evening I went out to roll with my skates again thinking if should I continue with my fasting. In the end I decided to go ahead and try to do 40 days, it’s the maximum amount of time which is allowed for water fasting, longer can be dangerous. I will try it and see how I feel, mostly because of my period I don’t even know where I’m at.
During there last 21 days I lost 5kg and as soon as my period started it was only 4,5 kg… My skin lifted up greatly and my stomach is totally flat. I also feel very good.
How to get out of fasting?
Coming out must last as long as the fasting itself.
The first 3 – 7 days : 1 litre of juice mixed 50/50 with water
Second week : Pure juices
Third week : vegetables ( avoid heavy meat )
After that you can eat as you like and as your body tells you.
I hope you enjoyed this article. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comment section, I will be happy to answer them all.
